Newfangled MP3 Player

Wally the Wonder Turtle and I hope everyone had a great Christmas and holiday season!

Wally and I stayed close to home and enjoyed our families (hopefully they enjoyed us). We all ate too much during our two-day stuff-a-thon marathon. I made ginger cookies, chocolate chip toffee cookies, and a chocolate peppermint cake for the Christmas festivities. Yum!

Shadow the Christmas Cat

We exchanged gifts, of course. Wally got an iPod iTouch, and I got a red bow tie! Weird, right? So Wally and I worked out a gift switcharoo, and now we're both happy.

People seem to love to know what's on each other's MP3 players, so I thought it would be fun to share my latest downloads (there are quite a few because I was starting from the ground up). Hopefully, nobody will think less of me after I broadcast my musical tastes to the world.

So here they are:
* "Major Tom (Coming Home)" by Peter Schilling (this is NOT the "Ground control to Major Tom" song ... that's David Bowie)
* "New Slang" by the Shins
* "Metro" by Berlin
* "Under Pressure" by David Bowie and Queen
* "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen
* "Lose You" by Pete Yorn
* "Take on Me" by A-Ha
* "99 Luftballoons" by Nena
* "Beds Are Burning" by Midnight Oil
* "She Blinded Me With Science" by Thomas Dolby
* "Der Kommissar" by Falco
* "Burning Down the House" by the Talking Heads
* "I'm On Fire" by Bruce Springsteen
* "Call Me" by Blondie
* "When You Were Young" by the Killers
* "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane
* "You Know You're Right" by Nirvana
* "Cold Wind" by the Arcade Fire

Do I have great taste or what?

What are you all listening to out there? What's on your MP3 player? What CD is in your stereo? Wally and I would love to hear from you!

New Soaps!

Hiya, Wonder Turtle fans! Guess what? Chicken butt! Also, there are new soaps at Wonder Turtle Soaps!

Check these out!

Pumpkin Gingerbread soap:

Pumpkin and gingerbread join together in this soap. The orange portion is a rich, spicy blend of pumpkin, cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg. The pretty shimmery brown half is gingerbread with hints of caraway seed, cinnamon, and cardamom. Yum!

Green Tea Soap (Goat's Milk):

Green and white swirls of green tea fragrance curl their way through this creamy goat's milk soap. This fragrance is warm and herbal, like a pot of freshly-brewed green tea. This scent has a pleasantly sharp, grassy bite to it with notes of delicate tea nicely rounding it out without making it too sweet or light. It's less "tea" and more "green," and both men and women will love it!

Wowee-wowza! Head on over to Wonder Turtle Soaps and get you some!

Wonder Turtle Sighting!

Just look at these Wonder Turtles, hanging out and being all awesome:

I took this photo from my back porch. There's a lake out back with a wooden platform  in the water. I don't know where the platform came from -- one day it was just there. Maybe the turtles built it.

There were more turtles sitting on the platform, like four of them, and most of them got scared and scattered when they heard me open the sliding glass door. These two were cool enough not to bail.

Rock on, turtle buddies.

Wally Sez ...

Here is where Wally the Wonder Turtle gets to share his thoughts with the world. Enjoy!

Wally Sez ...

So i was eating this thing -- this candy thing with chocolate, caramel, and nuts sticking out the sides -- and it was good so i say to my friend, Sniffles the cat, Hey this is good. What is it?

And Sniffles say, Is a turtle.

I spit it out and feel sick.

No, is not real turtle! Sniffles say.

Why he say is turtle when is not turtle?

It looks like turtle, Sniffles say, with the pecans as legs?

I guess so. So i say, Gimme another one.

So he does.

And i eat and is good, too. So i say, Hey, this is good.

And Sniffles say, Is turtle.

But is not really turtle.

Now that i know turtles is not really turtles, i can't wait to try turtle soup!

Welcome to the Wonder Turtle Soaps blog!

Hi, there! Wally the Wonder Turtle and I are so glad that you are here, reading our blog. Here, we write about soap (of course!), stuff we dig, and all of the goofy things we do. This is a happy, sudsy place of good, clean fun.

Wonder Turtle Soaps specializes in making dazzling, yummy-smelling, oh-so-wonderful glycerin soaps. Each bar is a little piece of art infused with love -- and really great-smelling stuff!

I started making melt-and-pour glycerin soap after a friend of mine inspired me to give it a try. I was hungry for a new task, a way to be creative. And if that process ended with a fully functional bar of soap that was pretty and smelled great, so much the better. I had failed at so many other artistic endeavors -- I was terrible at drawing, I couldn't sew or knit, and attempts to produce even a bad painting where disappointing. I had dabbled in photography and creative writing, but nothing stuck. I needed something ... else.

And then soaping came along. Not only was it fun, but it produced an item that was of great use. And when I got advanced enough that I felt comfortable giving some away to family and friends, they seemed to enjoy it. They were actually happy to get some of my soap! (This was a huge deal, as I was unaccustomed to having my handmade crafts praised or in any way positively received. In fact, people had often previously asked me to take my "art" far, far away and/or bury it in the backyard.)

Soaping stuck, and I was not too shabby at it. And as the months went by, I got better at it. And now, Wonder Turtle Soaps is here, producing soaps that I hope everyone will love.

I want my soap to make people happy. This is what I am thinking every time I start a new batch. My goal is to give each and every customer a great bar of soap that they will love.

By now you're probably asking yourself, "How can I get my own happy soap bar of turtle-ific artistry?" Well, lucky you! Here's what you do: Stop by my Etsy shop, say hi to Wally the Wonder Turtle (say something nice about his bow tie), and check out Wonder Turtle Soaps!
Thanks for visiting! See you soon!
